Rabbi Avigdor Miller ztl changed the world. Through more than a dozen books and thousands of recorded lectures, Rabbi Miller left a deep and indelible impression on Jews the world over. A talmid of the famous Slobodka yeshiva (Rabbi Isaac Sher ztl), Rabbi Miller was profoundly influenced by the Mussar movement and dreamt of transplanting and adapting the old-world Mussar approach to Torah study to American soil. In 1983, Rabbi Miller and his son Rabbi Shmuel Miller ztl founded Yeshiva Gedolah Bais Yisroel. In 1999, he gave the Yeshiva ownership of his recorded lectures, and in 2011, the Yeshiva launched what was to become Simchas Hachaim Publishing (SHP), actively publishing new sfarim based on Rabbi Miller’s recordings and writings — and making his inspiring teachings ever more accessible and available.
